We Can Insure Your Dodge Viper

The Dodge Viper continues to influence American ingenuity for 25 years and counting. Designed, engineered and hand-built in Detroit, Michigan, the Viper is truly a Made in the USA original. Born with a little help from Lamborghini, which Chrysler owns when the Viper bursts on the scene, this American supercar has proven itself to be an indelible fixture on the automotive landscape.

Brainchild of a President

The Viper comes into being as a result of the vision of Bob Lutz, the president of Chrysler in the late 1980’s. Mr. Lutz, who is credited with assisting BMW with the M division, secures the help of Tom Gale in Chrysler’s design division to create a concept car for the North American Auto Show in 1989. The car arrives with huge customer demand and production receives the green light.

Introduction of a Legend

The first Viper arrives in 1992 featuring an 8.0-liter V-10 engine that cranks out 400 horsepower and a massive 465 foot-pounds of torque. Thanks to Lamborghini’s secret sauce, the V-10 is cast in aluminum alloy to help save on weight. The power to weight ratio is further solidified by stripping unnecessary components. This Viper has no air conditioning, no power locks, no door handles, no roof and no windows.

The Next Generation

In 1996, enthusiasts cannot wait until the release of the second generation Viper. While changes are minimal, a roof and door handles are added. In 1999 Dodge releases the Viper with the American Club Racer (ACR) package featuring BBS Kraftfahrzeugtechnik AG wheels (BBS for short), Koni suspension and a 5-point race harness for the track – additions that really impress.

In and Out of Production

The new Millennium bring a bit of turmoil to Viper manufacture. From 2003-2005, it is only available as a convertible. In 2006, it is available as a coupe once more. In 2007, no Vipers are produced at all. In 2008, Viper returns with up to 600 hp with ACR trim. In 2009, CEO Ralph Gilles announces the Viper is ending production.

Those of us who know and love the supercar realize this is not the end of the Viper story. In 2013, Viper reemerges under the SRT brand (Street & Racing Technology), Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ high-performance automobile group. It sports a monster 640 hp engine with 600 foot-pounds of torque. By 2015, it is again branded the Dodge Viper and comes with the trim packages Viper fans love, such as the ACR, and models like the GTS. The year 2017 marks the final model of the Dodge Viper, not before it makes a few hot lists of desirable vehicles chosen the joy of driving them and their collectability for future enthusiasts.

Customized Policies to Fit Your Needs

When you own a Dodge Viper supercar, you want to protect it. At Classic Auto Insurance, we get that and can help you find the perfect coverage. We offer customizable policies that are not just a one size fits all. Our Viper insurance plans are tailored to each individual customer and your vehicle to fit your needs.

 Agreed Value Not Stated Value

At Classic Auto Insurance, we offer you Agreed Value coverage on your Dodge Viper. Unlike other insurance companies who want to tell you what your car is worth, we will work with you to determine the real value of your car and write a policy based on that price. In the event your Viper is totaled in a covered loss, you will receive the exact agreed-upon value on your policy minus your deductible.

Flexible Plans and Rollover Miles

Choose from one of our three mileage plans -1,000, 3,000 or 6,000 miles- to tailor your Viper insurance policy to your needs. For example, say you plan travel to several car shows, but the plans never come together. No problem – Classic Auto Insurance offers rollover miles from one year’s policy to the next. We understand plans change and we don’t feel you should lose miles just because you didn’t use them.

Classic Auto Insurance – Affordable Rates for Your Peace of Mind

In addition to Agreed Value, our “Inflation Guard” provides an automatic increase in vehicle coverage every quarter, throughout the policy term, so you don’t have to worry your Viper may be underinsured. This is just another way we offer peace of mind to Classic Auto customers.

Dodge Viper Roadside Assistance – Call Anytime

Your Viper is an American original – but that doesn’t mean you will never find yourself broken down on the side of the road. No need to worry – your Classic Auto Insurance policy includes nationwide Viper roadside assistance with guaranteed flatbed towing. We are just a phone call away.
