Classic cars can’t help but give a thrill of joy to people who see them driving around town or on the highway. For some, they bring back good memories; for others, they’re a window into the past. Here at Classic Auto Insurance, we always keep our ears to the ground regarding which cars and trucks are selling in classic car markets, so today, we’re going to discuss four vehicles that recently sold on Bringatrailer.com

Today’s vehicles are a 1957 Jaguar, a 1988 Mercedes Benz, a 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster, and a 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser. Let’s take a look at these beauties! 

1957 Jaguar Roadster1957 Jaguar XK140 MC Roadster

First up is a 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC Roadster, finished in blue over a gray interior and powered by a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual overdrive transmission. The Jaguar is equipped with 16″ knock-off wire wheels, a black soft top, a dual exhaust system, and dual SU carburetors. 

The car was finished from the factory in black and was repainted blue during a refurbishment by one of the owners. The Jaguar also features a black soft top, fender-mounted mirrors, Lucas driving lights, chrome-finished bumpers and trim, and dual exhausts. The 16″ wire wheels wear knock-off spinners and 6.00-16 Dunlop Road Speed RS5 tires.

The interior was factory-trimmed in red and has been reupholstered in a sleek gray with a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Some other intriguing features include carpeted floor mats, door pockets, a bright-finished emergency brake handle, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.

The replacement 3.4-liter inline-six was installed under previous ownership and is equipped with a C-Type cylinder head, dual SU carburetors, a Lucas ignition coil, and a dual exhaust system. The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation, consisting of a reverse-sweep tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. 

This gorgeous vintage car was sold at auction for $86,000.

1988 Mercedes Benz1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in Arctic White over Palomino leather and is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It features a limited-slip differential, a dark brown soft top, a removable hardtop, silver-finished 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels, fog lights, a Becker AM/FM/cassette stereo, electric windows, and automatic climate control. Additional exterior equipment includes quad headlights, fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. 

The silver-finished 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are mounted with 205/65 Michelin Premier tires. The car was factory equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.

The classic cabin features two bucket seats, a rear bench upholstered in rich Palomino leather, a matching center console and door panels, and burl wood trim. 

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation, including a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The 5.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 foot-pounds of torque. 

This beauty sold for $73,500 to a very lucky new owner.

1957 Porsche SpeedsterPorsche 356 Speedster Replica by Vintage Motorcars

This stylish Porsche 356 Speedster replica was built by Vintage Motorcars of California Inc. in Hawaiian Gardens, California. Power is provided by a 2,332cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and the fiberglass body is finished in black and mounted to a shortened Volkswagen Beetle chassis. 

This Porsche features a black soft top, fog lights, 15″ wheels, dual Kadron carburetors, black upholstery, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, heated seats, and a RetroSound Bluetooth stereo.  

The fiberglass body is finished in black and is fitted over a shortened Volkswagen Beetle chassis. Features include a reproduction Reutter badge on the right-front fender, gold Porsche 1600 Super badging, a single-grille engine lid, chrome bumper overriders, and dual exhaust outlets.

The heated low-back bucket seats are trimmed in black upholstery, and color-coordinated trim covers the dashboard, rear parcel shelf, and door panels. Additional amenities include a chrome passenger grab bar and door panel map pockets.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames green-letter VDO instrumentation consisting of a central tachometer flanked by a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge displaying oil temperature and fuel level. 

This gorgeous girl sold for $64,000 and is clearly worth every penny.

1978 Toyota Land Cruiser1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

This fantastic 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired in 2018 by the seller, who performed significant body-off refurbishment, including rebuilding its 4.2-liter 2F inline-six and overhauling its four-speed manual transmission, dual-range transfer case, suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes in addition to refinishing the body and refreshing the interior. 

This smart cruiser features an eight-point roll bar, a Velex marine stereo receiver, Corbeau front seats, as well as LED lighting, power steering, a Badland front winch, 17″ Pro Comp alloy wheels, TJM XGS shocks, and rear airbag helper springs. 

The seller also retrofitted the removable hardtop with a sliding soft-top insert, and the car features a front brush guard, a Badland ZXR 9000 front winch, black rear wheel arch extensions, and LED exterior lighting. 

The center console has cupholders and a CB radio is installed in the dashboard above the heater.

This stylish truck sold for $33,000 – an excellent price for the new owner looking to turn heads on the highway!
