Raising the Bar
Tod and his crew finish this beautiful gray custom just ahead of the deadline to show at the 2017 Detroit Autorama. Two employees spend much of the year on this build. “To achieve the level of quality expected at this event takes a lot of dedication and commitment,” reflects the builder. From the looks of this Camaro, they raise the bar for the competition.
It’s Like a Brand-New Camaro
Starting with a shell brought in from Arizona, the team does not know what to expect until after the sandblasting is complete. “That is when you really find out what you are up against,” Tod says. Rust is always a factor, even with cars from places like California and Arizona. A big block Chevy 497 cubic inch engine and a suspension upgrade go in. “It drives like a brand-new Camaro.”
What’s Not to Love?
This Camaro RS receives its fair share of attention at the event, especially from the judges. Nineteen-seventy is the year Chevy takes their time re-making the Camaro into a longer, lower and wider version of the original. What’s not to love?
