Since 1983, the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has been hosting fabulous national classic car shows and events that bring together vintage, classic and collectible car enthusiasts and their families for a jam-packed weekend of hot rodding. The Goodguys PPG Nationals, which takes place at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus every year, is the biggest car show on the organization’s schedule, and the 22nd annual edition on July 12 – 14, 2019 was no exception.

Project C10 Truck Makes Its National Car Show Début

Video Transcript

Drew Yagodnik, Classic Auto Insurance: All right. This is Drew. We’re back here with Project C10. Here with Rick Drewry, and we’re at the Columbus Goodguys Nationals at the Ohio Expo. And this is really the first national car show that we’ve brought the truck to.

Rick Drewry, AMIG: Right.

Drew: And so far the reaction has been overwhelming.

Rick: It’s awesome. So everybody appreciates the finer details that we put into this truck from the interior color to the bed, to the detail in the engine. All these little things that we’ve been working on for two years, two plus years really paid off. So people are appreciating the workmanship, the style, the white, it just jumps out at people. And you don’t see too many ’65s out there in this color scheme, especially with the red and the grays and all that, which tie right into your logo and everything else. So we did it on purpose, but it really worked.

Drew: I mean, it’s phenomenal. I mean the overall look, it’s exactly what we were going for. Just great to bring it to such a… The hot rod community is here today, tomorrow, this whole weekend. Right. So it’s been cool to see that reaction. And this is definitely not the end. Obviously we’re done building this, but it’s not the end of it. We got a lot of shows to take it to locally, nationally, and continue to get that vibe. But I think the two of us, it’s been cool to see the reaction after three years of hard work.

Rick: Right, right. And the good thing is it pays off. Just like even when we did AmiG, you’re going to get known for this truck. So people are going to say classic, ‘Oh, where’s the truck?’ So that’s going to be the good thing about it. And it shows well. It’s just a cool ass truck now. So it’s something that brings people to us, to the booth. It’s something that we have a passion for. You’ve always had the passion for the trucks. So now people come in and we’re talking insurance and stuff like that, but we’re also talking about the trucks. What did you do to them? What kind of build you do? And it’s really showing off.

Drew: No, I’m excited. I appreciate all the hard work from the guys at American Modern, the claims team, Rick’s team, our agent team. I mean it really came together exactly as we planned, and it’s just good to validate when you come to a show like this, what the crowd reaction is. I mean, we knew it from day one that at some point we would get here and love it as much as we do today. But it’s good to see everybody else does, too.

Rick: Completely agree and all the hard work that everybody put in as appreciated. It was definitely a team effort. This wasn’t something that one person did. We had many hands in it. Our claims team, which are all car guys, contributed to every part of it. And we worked hand in hand with your entire group at the agency, and this is what we could do. So to me I think it shows off basically what we’re all about.

Drew: I mean, it was a great project. We enjoyed it, my staff enjoyed it. And this is definitely not the last piece. We’re going to probably do some ongoing maintenance videos and just some kind of peaks at what does it take to maintain. Even though it’s a show truck, we’re going to drive it. So obviously some things are going to come up and we’ll have more. More to come.
