The Lamborghini Gallardo has said its goodbyes, but the company has outdone itself with the replacement for this favorite among exotic cars. Debuting at the 2014 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, the Lamborghini Huracan was introduced by the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, who did a question and answer session for fans at the show.
It may be hard for Lamborghini to outsell the Gallardo, since that classic sold over 14,000 models (the top selling vehicle in the company’s history), but fans are already awaiting pricing on this new model so they can put in their custom orders.
Even without the release of the price tag, over 300 Lamborghini fans in North America have already pre-ordered their Huracans, and the CEO told attendees that the reception at Concours even matched the enthusiasm of that in Geneva.
The Huracan comes with quite a few changes from the Gallardo, however, the most noticeable being that of a mixed aluminum and carbon fiber frame. This car is lighter, and stronger than the Gallardo ever was, making it one of the most race-ready cars Lamborghini has ever released. The Huracan also comes fully equipped with a double-clutch unit and standard all-wheel drive system with full electronic controls.
