This year was the third annual Gasparilla Concours d’Elegance held at a new location the TPC Tampa Bay golf course in Lutz, FL. The weather was picture perfect and the venue made for a wonderful backdrop for all the cars on display. This year the concours featured a very diverse show field of over 120 cars and motorcycles. This included early 1900 antique cars, full classics, muscle cars, race cars, trucks, and post-war cars both foreign and domestic thru 1976. Spectators have a rare opportunity to see vintage 1914 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, a collection of Model A’s, to a 1976 Triumph TR6. All the vehicles on display were some of the rare, mostly original, but historically important. The Grand Marshal this year was Thomas duPont of the dupont family and founder of the luxury lifestyle magazine, the duPont Registry.
The concours, still in its infantry, did a good job gathering a wonderful display of cars and motorcycles. Attendance was light which gave attendees the opportunity to enjoy the cars and talk with their owners. This was a judged event awarding participants an opportunity to get an award. These awards included, Best in Class, Sponsor, Chairman, and other specialty awards.
The biggest prize of any concours is the People’s Choice and Best-In-Show award. The people’s Choice award went to a vintage Good Humor Ice Cream Truck and the Best of Show winner was a 1930 L28 Cord Convertible Sedan owned by Mike Gaylor of Dade City, FL.
