A Detroit resident will be reunited with the 1979 Corvette which was stolen from him over 33 years ago. George Talley, now 71-years-old, received a call last week from a police lieutenant on the Mississippi Highway Patrol, saying they had recovered his car and it was ready for him to come down and pick it up.
Hearing the story, GM Vice President, Mark Reuss, took interest and has offered to return the car to Talley at the company’s expense. The silver and gray Corvette was parked on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit in 1981, when it was stolen from Talley. After filing a police report, he says he never saw the car again. We imagine it came as quite a shock to hear his car will be back in his possession after such a long amount of time! Talley says the car appears to be in good condition, is running, and has 47,000 miles on it.
We are anxious to hear what Talley will do with the Corvette. Do you think he’ll keep it, or use the publicity he’s getting to auction the car off to a collector?
