C10 Restoration

Episode 9 – The Project C10 crew hits a milestone. Led by American Modern’s Rick Drewry and Classic Auto’s Drew Yagodnik, they’re ready to paint. Working their list – a great way to keep focused- everything is primed and painted from the frame to the suspension pieces. Next up, assemble the suspension.

Episode 8 – The C10 crew takes delivery on a 700 R4 transmission kit with overdrive plus a new torque converter. The block is cleaned and sealed with epoxy primer. We skim coat the frame with body filler, bolt in the cross member and do the final prep before the next step: painting it Chassis Black.

Episode 7 – The Project C10 crew is prepping our truck chassis, breaking down the rear end. Since we can’t go out and buy a new ‘65 Chevy C-10 rear cross member, we’re fabricating one from scratch to accommodate a different fuel tank. And we discover our C10 has a 4-10 axle gear – like a hot rod!

Episode 6 – Classic Auto’s Drew Yagodnik, Rick Drewry and Project C10 crew members are prepping the bed of our ‘65 Chevy C10 truck. While Rick uses a hammer and dolly to beat the sides straight, going on feel and applying a guide coat, Drew and the rest sand everything smooth and ready for primer.

Episode 5 – The crew starts body work on the cab and truck bed – drilling, air hammering, dismantling, tack welding and repairing inner and outer rockers, floor pans, fenders and a front bed panel that has seen better days. Time to make the call to scrap it? Find out what’s at stake in the end.

Episode 4 – The Project C10 crew takes apart the tired, old rear suspension and puts it back together again. They pull axles, press out ball joints, pop off dip covers and sand blast everything before installing new bearings and re-assembling the gear in preparation for a disc break conversion.
