On Saturday, August 25, 2018, the streets of Carmel, Indiana’s Arts & Design District were … wet … for Artomobilia, which didn’t stop die-hard automotive enthusiasts and their collector cars or the automotive artisans who grace this most eclectic of gatherings from attending. From the 20 different collector car judging classes to the numerous enthusiast car corrals, motorcycles and more, visitors get up close and personal with original, restored, period-correct cars, including Supercar, Exotic, Sports Car, Classics, Racers, Historically Preserved, Indiana Built, Sedan/Coupe and others. Presented by Kar Auction Services, Artomobilia’s Featured Car Marque for 2018 is Ford Performance. In past years, the Artomobilia Organizing Committee has featured 50 Years of Mustang, Porsche, series-winning race cars and others – although Ford Performance, embodied in three generations of Ford GT Heritage, is definitely one of our favorites. Outstanding.
Best Part of Artomobilia
From the classics to the exotics, the variety of cars that participate in the show and the great location are just two reasons Classic Auto has sponsored the event since 2014. Every year the cars and the crowds get better and better. Even with the near rain-out, the crowds still showed up and so did the cars -close to 70% of those entered. Participating in Artomobilia gives us a chance to not only connect with our fabulous collector car community, we also get out on the streets and interact with the local community. We love to hear stories of how an enthusiast finds their classic, what someone’s dream car may be or the trials and triumphs of restorations. For us, it’s one of the best parts of Artomobilia.
Inaugural SHIFT
Classic Auto also participated in SHIFT, new for 2018. Driving a McLaren -one of the 50 performance cars available- we started at Silo Auto Club and continued through Southern Indiana, stopping in Bloomington at FARMbloomington Restaurant for lunch. The food was amazing as was the conversation. The McLaren was great on those roads and all the drivers really enjoyed the day, which ended with an evening cocktail reception back at Silo. With such a great turnout and a fun, interactive driving experience, we anticipate SHIFT to become a mainstay for Artomobilia Weekend. For sure.
Artomobilia Future
As the 11th Artomobilia Weekend ended, it seems both collector car enthusiasts and the community at large are marking the celebration of automotive art and design on their calendars year after year. From a crowd perspective, Artomobilia is the second biggest event in Carmel. Artomobilia/Fuelicious is also a charity event, which allows everyone who sponsors or participates an opportunity to give back. We definitely like that. Classic Auto has joined the Artomobilia leadership board, which gives us a chance to network with like-minded enthusiast and community leaders on a continued basis. We’re looking forward to more Artomobilia experiences in our future. We hope you are, too.
