The latest additions to the Ford Mustang now incorporate the ability for the cars Sync Assist system to dial directly to 911 and emergency responders in the event of an accident.
In cases where the airbags deploy or the fuel supply is cut off, the Ford Sync 911 Assist system will automatically begin a call to emergency responders, as well as begin collecting data about the crash to better inform those on the other end of the line. The 911 Sync Assist system can assess details of the crash, including seat belt usage, location of the car, and even severity of the injuries. If occupants of the car are conscious, they will have the option to decline the emergency call if necessary.
This remote safety system is the first one to be installed in vehicles since GM created OnStar. OnStar, which was originally created as an airbag deployment alert system, has evolved into much more today, but Ford is hopeful that this Sync update will compete with OnStar’s success.
The new Ford Sync Assist 911 will be available in the new 2015 Mustang. The price of the new models starts at a base of $24,425. If you are interested in purchasing one of the 2015 Mustangs, give Classic Auto a call for a competitive rate quote on our muscle car insurance policies!
