The FIRST Chevy Camaro

On this day in history: The first Chevy Camaro was sold in 1967!

To celebrate this momentous occasion, it’s time to look at a little bit of Camaro history and honor a piece of American history as well!

The first line of Chevy Camaros was built with a steel rail subframe and Double A-arms to make up the front end suspension. The rear axle was held with semi-elliptical leaf springs. This design and structure allowed for a sturdy body that has held up over the years, and Camaro owners will tell you about the fantastic condition many of their ’67 Camaros are still in today.

The base line model 1967 Camaro also got a (for that time) high horsepower rating of 140, and operated on a twisting three-speed manual transmission.

There were engine upgrades you could pay for, ensuring you’d get more power and speed from your Camaro, but whatever engine you chose, you could be sure you were making a part of classic car history with this purchase!

Were you one of the lucky people who got to buy an original 1967 Chevy Camaro? We desperately want to hear your story! Leave us a comment or email us pictures of your first Camaro and we’ll share them on the blog. While you’re at it, get a FREE instant muscle car insurance quote from us and find out how we can insure your original classic cars!

Where Would You Drive It?

A couple of weeks ago, Jalopnik asked its readers a fantastic question: Would you drive this car to pick up a friend at the airport?

Ford GT 40

Answers ranged from volatile “no, absolutely not” type answers to “are you kidding? I’d love to!” responses about the $11,000,000 classic car.

Jalopnik certainly has no shortage of opinionated readers.

Well, we thought this was a fun topic, so we want to expand on it! We have a very opinionated crowd of readers as well, so we thought we’d ask you: what types of cars do you road-drive, and which ones you think are worthy of a permanent garage spot?

We know everyone has some varied opinions, and that’s what makes the topic so fun! Do you have a great story about driving your classic car? Share your opinions and stories below in the comments and we’ll post some of the best ones to the blog!

After you’ve left your comment, head back to our main page and treat your classic car to some much needed insurance. You can get a free, instant classic car insurance quote to compare our prices with competitors.  Even if you’re a “garage car” owner, don’t risk damaging your collection. Where to Find Hot Rod Insurance

Insurance is something that all car owners have to think about. Finding the right insurance provider becomes even more important for vintage car owners. People often think finding the right policy for vintage cars is hard to do. The truth is, there are many companies that offer vintage car insurance. You just have to know where to find these companies.

Looking for insurance providers online is the easiest way to find the right company and look for the most affordable policy. You may not know it but there are numerous agencies that offer affordable rates with better coverage for vintage vehicles. You will find everything you need to know about an agency online. Aside from getting a car quote, it would help if you also look into client reviews and ratings. This will give you an idea of how a classic car insurance agency is able to follow through with their promises. By reading reviews and ratings, you will also know the kind and quality of service a company offers.

When looking for a classic car insurance agency, you should also ask if the company offers insurance for customized parts. Will you get auto road service with your policy or do you have to pay extra for that? Is the company affiliated with car clubs? Knowing these things will help you decide which company you should get a policy from.

How to Get a Fair Rate for Your Specialty Car Insurance Policy

If you’re thinking of getting vintage car insurance for your classic car, make sure that you get exactly what you need from your insurance policy before signing the contract. Unlike in a standard auto insurance where you don't have a hand in the assessment of your car, you can participate in the appraisal of your vintage car. This is one of the biggest differences between a standard and a vintage car insurance policy.

A standard auto insurance company uses actual value assessment for your vehicle. In this kind of assessment, your car is appraised based on the make, model and year your vehicle is manufactured. The older your car is, the lower will be the assessment for the price of your vehicle. Also, the appraised value will depreciate in time.

In a specialty car insurance policy, the company will use an agreed valuation where you and the classic insurance agency will come to an agreed amount for your vintage car. The value may include the modifications you've done to your car. The agreed amount will not depreciate. You can be sure to get the full amount if and when you need it.

Classic Auto Insurance offers a fair insurance policy for vintage car owners like you. Get your quote from us today.

What To Do When You're in a Car Accident

Accidents can leave you and your passengers shaken up but it's important that you try to get yourself together so you can do the appropriate actions needed when one gets into a car accident with any vehicle, including your classic truck or vintage muscle car.

Check for Injuries
Your safety and the safety of your passengers should always be your priority. The number one rule you should remember is to avoid moving any passenger who is either unconscious or has a major injury unless necessary. Immediately call 911 for medical assistance.

Call the Police, Get Some Witnesses.
Reporting the accident to the authorities is important. Your classic car insurance provider may ask for a copy of the police report when you're filing for insurance claims.

Prepare your vintage car insurance information
Don't forget to exchange information with the other parties involved.

Only Discuss the Accident with the Police and Your Insurance Representative
Try to be as accurate as you can when reporting the incident to the police. Be objective in your report. Letting your insurance representative know exactly what happened will make processing claims easier.

Classic Car Ins has an efficient staff that is always ready to help you. Our staff will send a qualified auto roadside service for your vehicle and make sure you are safe while you wait for the service. We will also walk you through the claims process so you can promptly receive the financial assistance you need. Contact us for more information on our services.
