Charles Stewart Rolls – The Man Behind the Luxury Car

Charles Stewart Rolls of Rolls Royce

We know the day has passed, but we could not let it slip by completely without wishing a happy birthday (belated or not!) to Charles Stewart Rolls.

Born on August 28th, 1877 (some debate he was born on the 27th), Charles Stewart Rolls was a pioneer for British automobile engineering, and with the assistance of Henry Royce, co-founded the Rolls-Royce Ltd. luxury automobile company.

A descendent of the British aristocracy, Rolls was educated at Eton and at Cambridge University’s Trinity College. During his years at University, he became interested in racing. Driving a 12-horsepower Panhard car in the Thousand Mile Trial (a famous European race), he quickly became known as the best driver in Wales. Because of his driving status, he was solely responsible for changing the national speed limit from 4mph to 12mph.

In 1902, Rolls got into the car sales business, and two years later he met with an electrical engineer named Henry Royce. By 1906, Rolls-Royce Ltd. was a booming business. Royce was responsible for much of the design behind the vehicles, but Charles Stewart Rolls made this brand possible with his business savvy and his finances.

Rolls was also very interested in flight, and he became a pilot of one of the first produced Wright Brothers’ planes.  He was also the first pilot to fly nonstop across the English Channel. Unfortunately his love for aviation was also his downfall. In July of 1910, Rolls was killed in a plane crash at the age of 32.
Thanks to his love of invention and aviation, the Rolls-Royce Ltd. brand has expanded into many different areas today. Believe it or not, many of our jet engines are engineered and manufactured by the Rolls-Royce company.

If you are the owner of a car that comes from the Rolls-Royce tradition, you know how important it is to protect the legacy and history that car represents. Don't let your investment go unprotected. Visit our website today and receive a free instant luxury car insurance quote!

How to Get the Best Classic Car Insurance

The first thing you should know about collector car insurance rates is that they differ greatly from standard auto insurance. Here are some tips on how to get the best insurance for your car.

What to Look for in An Insurance Coverage

Best Roadside Assistance Program – Your policy should include provisions for immediate and comprehensive roadside assistance. Be sure you review your contract thoroughly and determine exactly what ‘roadside assistance’ offers. Does it include towing and jump-start services? What about fuel or battery delivery? Can it help you fix a flat tire or unlock your vehicle if you’ve misplaced or lost your keys?

Eligibility Requirements – When it comes to providing coverage for vintage or limited edition vehicles, some companies are very particular in approving insurance applications. It is just reasonable for insurance providers to require you to be of a certain age and ask if you have another vehicle you use for everyday driving. What would not be reasonable, however, is if your policy provider asks you to have a completely clean driving record from the very first day you obtained a license. Minor traffic violations are often not an issue for most companies.

Now that you know what to look for, be sure you have the necessary papers ready for review to obtain instant approval. If possible, prepare all notes and records you possess pertaining to any previous modification or service performed on your vehicle.

Have Some Peace of Mind While on the Road

You might be thinking, “What do I need roadside assistance for?”. Everyone has encountered a flat tire and ran out of gasoline at one time or another and they managed to do just fine. One cannot underestimate the value of roadside assistance especially if you are driving a vintage car. Machines fail, motors get overheated. They have limits. With a Classic car, these limits are magnified because of the car’s age. Some parts may not be working smoothly anymore and when you’re out on the open road, all sorts of things can happen.

Because of your car’s high value, you have to make sure that your car is in the hands of experts in case some of these road incidents happen. You never know when you might lose your key while traveling or gets a flat tire. It is always nice to know that help is just a phone call away. The auto road service your insurance provider is offering you may seem to be just an auxiliary feature, but it is very crucial if you want to preserve your car for a longer period of time.

Classic Auto Insurance offers the best roadside assistance program for you and your car. When it comes to your classic car, don’t take chances. Put your collector car in the care of the experts. Get your free insurance quote from us today.

Save Money with Classic Car Insurance

If you have a classic car, you have to be aware that standard auto insurance will not be enough to protect your vehicle. Your car is special. It needs insurance that offers more than what standard auto insurance offers. A company specializing in vintage cars understands the needs of car owners like you, therefore giving you the right coverage and service for your vintage vehicle.

Vintage vehicles are used for different purposes other than being used as an everyday vehicle. In fact, most of these cars are not used for everyday driving but are often used for car shows or car races if you have a customized car. Because of this, you have to look for a policy that offers the kind of coverage you need based on how often and what you use your vintage car for.

Getting the right coverage for your car can help you save money on insurance payments and repairs. If you get standard auto insurance that does not offer the kind of coverage you need you may pay more for repairs when your muscle car gets damaged and your policy does not cover the damages your car incurred.

Classic Car Ins is one of the leading classic insurance agencies in the country today. Have your car insured with us and you can have the peace of mind that your car is covered appropriately. Get a free quote today.
